I am from Canada and based on my friends feedback I don’t think patients are being offered the option of anaesthesia here. I have heard really difficult stories about the day the IUD was inserted, I had a friend pass out, another crying and not being able to move for days. Now I understand every body is different and will react differently but I found it awful that this doctor didn’t properly made you aware of the risks and realities before starting the procedure! Not sure if there is a way you can report this doctor, chances are she will do this again…
